Resource: Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Support
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) sponsored the creation of these guidelines utilizing the expertise and practical wisdom of leaders in the peer support field representing Canada’s provinces coast to coast.
Use these Guidelines to learn more about the practice of peer support, including guiding values, principles of practice, and recommended skills, abilities and personal attributes of peer supporters. Section 2 focuses on training modules recommended to assist a prospective peer supporter be better prepared to support others.
These guidelines apply to community, clinical, and workplace peer support programs.

Supporting Through Struggle™ Workshop
An interactive workshop focused on strengthening your ability to support someone, socially, emotionally, and practically, who may be struggling with a mental health challenge.
This course will take a deeper dive into how to have conversations in a way that helps the other person, while still considering your own self care.

Supporting Through Struggle™ is well suited to leadership in workplaces, organizations or community members. The objective is to help you further develop your capabilities and confidence to support someone who is living with a mental health challenge.
This workshop takes a participative approach using conversational learning to engage all participants. Includes hands-on experiential learning, in depth conversations, story-telling, and self reflection. This training can be one or two days in duration.
